We’re excited to share that Batoul Assi (DC5) has just started her secondment at RWTH Aachen University this week! 🇩🇪🎓 

She is hosted by Prof. Thomas Matschei and doctoral candidate Omnya Abdalla, and will focus on gaining advanced expertise in Gibbs Energy Minimization (GEMS) software. 🔬💻 

This secondment will involve close collaboration with the RWTH group, enhancing Batoul’s methodological skills and applying them to the research challenges tackled by the CONTRABASS project. 

Her work aims to bridge atomistic-scale insights with thermodynamic models, contributing to robust system-level understanding—especially in the thermodynamic modeling of cementitious and carbonate systems, a core pillar of CONTRABASS’s mission to design sustainable materials. 🌍🏗️
